Hotel Frontenac on Rue Pierre Charron

This hotel is near our place but look for the Turkish flag....

Les egouts

It is interesting to go down to the gutters of France and yet pay for it. Surprisingly there are no odors. I was expecting the worst. How it was built, why certain are where they are, it is very educational.

Les egouts

They have street signs for the canalization system as well.

Les bateaux mouches sur la Seine

We have not ridden these yet on this trip. Waiting for sunnier and warmer days to do it.

The American Church on Quai d'Orsay

This is another American church. It was closed at the time but lots of young peoples checking the bulletin board for rental places.

Daffodils on Quai d'Orsay

Spring is surely on its way. Here and there flowers are coming up. I had not planted any this year so these make up for my laziness.

L'Obelisque from Quai d'Orsay

We the barren trees, it is possible to see the Obelisque from far away. Reminds me of our house in Zurich where the lake was visible during the winter but not the rest of the year.

Athena in front of Assemblee Nationale

I saw pictures of this statue during the Commune days. She looked the same.

Legion d'honneure musee

As with many buildings, it is under renovation. Even though we cannot visit it for the next few years, I am happy that they are renovating it. It would be a shame to let all the buildings go to waste.

Les deux musees

We had lunch here and surprisingly it was very pleasant including the waiter.

Hotel de Pomereu

Another one of the big, beautiful, private hotels. People knew how to live at the time.

Saint-Roch on Rue du Rivoli

I had thought that the great dome we had seen from Assemble National was Saiant-Roch. But alas. However, it is a beautiful church. Some notable people are buried here. Just a few weeks ago in the Gala magazine I saw the funeral services for a friend of Johnny Holliday.

This famous street is a delight to walk. There are the famous hotels particuliers, small stores and towards the Place de la Concorde touristic shops. Many of them nice souvenirs of Paris.

La chapelle de l'assomption (Polish church) on Rue du Rivoli

Having been given to the Polish church many decades ago, it is a center for the Polish people. Many signs are in Polish. There is a soup kitchen to help the Polish homeless. It is the heart of Poland in Paris. And the dome is the MISSING DOME.

L'Orangerie at the Place de la Concorde

This is also under reconstruction. While the repairs were being done, they discovered some old remnants of days gone by. The archeological dig plans to save many of these.

Millet Les Glaneuses

One of my mother's favorite paintings. The museum of Orsay is really a wonderful place because one is able to see things without being rushed, pushed and shoved.
